Photonics Europe puts spring in your step

As we finally appear to be leaving the dark evenings and snow behind us, a surer sign of the seasonal change is the appearance of SPIE’s Photonics Europe event, which takes place once again at the Palais de la Musique et des Congrès in Strasbourg, France between 7 and 11 April 2008.

Photonics Europe comprises a range of conferences, workshops, seminars, and an expanding exhibition that together provide what organiser SPIE describes as “a dynamic learning environment”. The conference and exhibition serves as the platform for new information and updates on the Seventh framework Programme of the European Community for research, technological development and demonstration activities (FP7) in the ICT theme.

As well as three comprehensive "Hot Topics" sessions and other technical and social events to maximize networking opportunities, this year’s event will present the European Innovation Village. This feature will provide a window on creative products developed by universities and research centres; it will also display the European initiatives, networks of excellence, integrated projects, and other EC projects that will showcase their consortium as well as their newest breakthroughs
The leadership of Photonics Europe 2008 has selected many of the toughest issues facing optical and photonics technologies today as the basis for their program. These current research issues will drive the development of new products for years to come.

Optics Pages plays a key role

Xmark Media, the photonics industry marketing and publishing company behind Optics Pages, as well as the UK’s PHOTONEX exhibition, has also been involved in promoting the Photonics Europe event. Several of Optics Pages subscriber companies have taken the opportunity to exhibit in Strasbourg including Newport Spectra-Physics, spectroscopy systems specialist Ocean Optics and the diverse international optical component manufacturer, CVI Melles Griot.
